An honor

Ellen Lindner, Adventure Quilter, has included my nature quilt in her gallery. I made it in a class she taught our Weaver's Guild. She is a great teacher and offers on-line classes. I still need to finish the other two projects from on-line classes!

Art Bundle Part 3

I moved it to a potted plant in the front yard last month. Today I opened it - not too much change. There was a funny little bug living there. I evicted him. So, I don't think I'll try this bundle again, maybe a different one later.

Supplies as Art

Today, when I went outside to clean up from my mornings painting project, it struck me that the supplies were an art piece themselves! The group included a T-shirt paint rag, a palm frond, stamp I had made and of course paint and brush.

And here's a piece of fabric I rust dyed. Turned out better than my previous effort.

Art Bundle - Part 2

I opened the art bundle today - - see post of May 14.

There's not t lot of change. Some rust and the flower blossoms had withered. And a tiny spider rode in on it.

I re-wrapped it (minus the spider) and placed it in another location for another month, we'll see what happens.

Deb has flown back home to Texas. What a perfect Mother's day week. we laughed, created, ate & drank wine. We dyed wool and stamped paint on fabrics. We shopped thrift stores and made 50 cent skirts. We walked on the beach.

It's done! Except for the floor. I LOVE it - it's brighter and has more room.

Weathered art bundle

I have made a random object bundle of "stuff" to weather in my yard for a month.

First the bundle open, And then, hanging on the fence.

It contains a rock, two shells, a sample of countertop, some basket reed and fibers, a couple of oleander blossoms, rusty nails and a piece of driftwood. It is wrapped in a paint rag and enclosed in a plastic mesh bag. I'll open it next month & see what time and the weather has done.

Fabric Fun

Last weekend I attended the Florida Tropical Weaver's Guild conference.
The workshop I took was Art cloth taught by Jan Navales. A link to her website is on the right. Check out her great fabric art.

Now that Deb & Matt have come & gone - here's an update. Cabinets are in, countertop on. Still to be done: Tiles and cabinet hardware.

Finally! - I'm Back

Just realised I haven't updated in almost a month! So I'll catch up a few things.

This is a scarf dyed in a weaver's guild workshop. It is pole wrapped shibori. I dont usually wear scarfs - but I may wear this one!And these are samples from the same workshop, different methods - stitched, clamped, etc.

My next project is a kitchen re-do! My daughter, Deb, & her boyfriend, Matt ,are coming to install cabinets. And I'm fusing some glass into tiles to be used as accents: Here's a few.

I don't know . . . .

. . . what she is, but her name is Celeste

She just appeared from my stash - I asked what she was - she relpied "What are you?". I asked why her name was Celeste - she replied "Why is your name Lyn?"

Perhaps she'll sprout wings, or a mermaid tail. She is definitely not earthbound. But is she aerial or aquatic? Maybe both.

A couple of weavings:

"Stranger Than Fiction"

Small - tapestry started in a class at Florida Tropical Weaver's Guild.

"Beach Walk" - Also small. It is attached to a piece of driftwood and has seashell dangles.
I have no idea why I felt compelled to finish the one and make the other. They were fun to do - tactile and relatively mindless, at least not requiring a lot of pre-planning.

And, I'm not sure why I wanted to take up s new meduium. But I have a friend who is an excellent stained glass artist. She is patiently teaching me the basics. My first two projects:

A little creativity

As you can see, I haven't kept up with my blogging - nor with my resolutions from last year.

But - I do have two new eyes! Cataracts removed & new "crystal lenses" implanted . "I can see clearly now. . . . " or at least I will be able to when the swelling goes down & my eyes learn to focus again!.

Here are a few things I have made in recent days - so maybe I'm back on track:

That's a quote by my mom - twenty seven plus years ago. And now I know exactly how she felt! See my daughters blog for some neat pictures of "the early years".

My kids gave me an early birthday present - spending a week end with me - just walking the beach, eating too much and reminiscing.

Hanging out with hookers . . .

A friend invited me to join two more gals to dye some wool. They will use theirs in hooking rugs - I have no idea what I'll do with mine - but is sure is cool!

The fabric started a camel tan - you can see it on the right in the background. We layered the fabric in a crockpot, adding a color to each layer.

Knice Knew Knees!

Here's my something new, for May - July! Knees. Both were replaced, one in May and one in July. The ugly compression stockings got so boring, I just had to draw lizards & flowers on them.

SCRUMBLING not GRUMBLING

My daughter sent this quote:

So - I realized I could cure my own bad mood and ease my impatience with the healing process after my knee surgery by getting to work!
